ORElogy Feature Project  #1

Pre-feasibility and Bankable Feasibility Study - Mining Engineering

Project:                  Balla Balla Iron Ore, Vanadium, Titanium Project

Location:               West Pilbra, Western Australia

Client:                     Aurox Resources Ltd

Project Summary

ORElogy have had an on-going involvement in the Balla Balla Iron Project since 2004.

ORElogy has worked on many aspects and studies including:

  • completing a mining study in 2006 to a “Bankable” standard designed to produce 4,500 tonnes of metal per year for a 30 year mine life.
  • completing a 3 mtpa magnetite concentrate mine plan for the Central and Western resources
  • completing a 6 mtpa expansion plan for the Central and Western resources
  • completing a 6 - 10 mtpa integrated product study which now includes Central, Western and Eastern resources and now produces iron, vanadium and titanium products

ORElogy continues to work on other aspects of the mine plan by including additional resources.

ORElogy Feature Project  #2

Pre-feasibility and Bankable Feasibility Study - Mining Engineering

Project:                  Rössing South Uranium Project

Location:               Namibia

Client:                    Extract Resources Ltd

Project Summary

The Rössing South Uranium Project is a large scale open pit development (15Mtpa ore / 15+ year mine life) located in Western Namibia. Since early 2009, ORElogy has been involved with the initial phases of exploration, and since then was commisions by Extract Resources to undertake all mining and open pit geotechnical aspects for the Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) on the Rössing South Uranium Project.

The work undertaken includes, but is not limited to:

  • Open pit optimisation utilising WHITTLE software and the subsequent staged and ultimate pit designs.
  • Open pit scheduling utilising evORElution software to generate life-of-mine plans and also assess short term grade variability.
  • Assess multiple mining fleet options including the implementation of trolley-assist haulage.
  • Generate a detailed LOM capital and operating cost schedule for mining.
  • Design LOM infrastructure layout including roads, waste dumps etc within a number of environmental and land holding constraints.
  • Assess dilution and ore loss parameters for a number of operating options.

ORElogy completed the ECS in February 2010, with the DFS due for completion mid-June. As with other similar projects, ORElogy hope to maintain an on-going involvement with Extract and Rössing South through project implementation and on the operation.
